Hi everyone!
Last week we had the privilege of travelling around in Wales. We are very sorry that we haven't been able to update the post, but we have had little WiFi and dad still has to get an inverter, so we couldn't charge the laptop.
We left Monday, the 17th of October. Our first official stop was in Cardiff because 2 of us had to apply for new passports. We stopped at many ruins and castles. Ogmore, Oystermouth, Kidwelly, Manorbier, Pembroke, St David's Cathedral and Bishop's Palace, Cligerran, Aberystwyth, Criccieth, Harlech, Caernarfon, Bronllys, Tretower court and castle, Abergavenny, and Chepstow.
We didn't go into many, as most charge an entrance fee and we're rather a big clan.
We were really blessed though! While walking around the huge walls of the castle in Caernarfon, a guy came up to us and told us that to enter the castle was free for the day. It was really impressive! We went up turrets and towers and could see far across. We went from room to room through the corridors and some of them were pretty dark. We almost got lost once or twice. The staircases were narrow and it got a bit funny when two groups came together halfway through and we had to pass one another. According to Emile that was one of the best castles in Wales, so we had the perfect opportunity to see what it was like inside.
The first night we slept in a yacht car park overlooking Swansea bay. The second night we slept in Pembroke next to a train station with trains lulling us to sleep (yeah right). Wednesday night was on the beach next to the Blue lagoon at Abereiddy. We went walking on the cliffs the next morning and mum almost had a nervous breakdown when us kids (dad wasn't innocent either) went to look over the edge of the cliffs. We drove her to tears - no kidding. Thursday night we stayed in Aberystwyth on the beach overlooking the harbour. We saw an impressive ruin of a castle to finish off our day. Friday night we slept in Criccieth. The view from our camper window was the Criccieth Castle. Saturday we camped in the mountainous area of Minffordd next to a river and waterfall. But the 'town' (if we could call it that) was so small, we didn't even notice it. The only thing we saw was one hotel. For our last sleepover in Wales we chose a car park in Abergavenny. The next morning we went to explore the castle ruin that was a mere 3 minutes walk away before we departed on our way back.
Sadly the the trip ended yesterday, but that was only the first leg of the tour! Next week Monday we will be on a ferry on our way to France. Yippee!!! This time though we will hopefully get easier access to WiFi. :)
