Buen Dia!
Since entering Spain we've had some beautiful sleeping spots and sights, and the weather has been improving daily. Today we have crossed over into Portugal.
Friday, 11 November, we left Lekeitio (our first camping spot in Spain). Going through Bilboa was a real city experience (preferably not to repeat soon). That evening we stayed at Cabarceno next to a lake (Emile really wished he had a fishing rod!). It was really pretty and we would have stayed another day, except that it was a bit chilly in that area. There were some really high mountains close by. As we were driving we could see the tops and they were covered in snow. Adjacent to the Aire was a game reserve with African elephants, buffalo and some deer. You could go over the reserve in a cable car, but we were happy enough just to look over the fence. That also might have had something to do with the fact that it cost 16€/person to go up.
Sunday, 13 November (Mummy's Birthday!!) it was still raining - since leaving France, but Geneve, Emile and Dad all decided to go for a dip in the sea. Saturday we went to a camping place at Playa de la France, but it was closed. That didn't stop us from parking right outside the campsite next to the beach. That evening Geneve, Emile and Dad went to go explore the caves in the rocks while the tide was going out. And boy, the water went out really far because of the super moon.
Monday, 14 November we went from Tapia-de-Casariego to Puerto de San Pedro, a harbour at a small fishing village on the one side of A Coruna.
Tuesday, 15 November, Emile was able to buy a fishing rod with his birthday money. He'd been begging for one for ages. That evening we stayed next to a hatchery 5km outside Carnota so Emile went to go stand by some local Spanish fishermen on the rocks. They gave him some bait, and he caught his first fish. We left latish the next morning, because Geneve, Emile and Dad were trying to catch more fish. There were loads in the sea!! But only dad managed to haul one out without losing it from the hook. All three agree that his was smaller than the ones that the other two would have brought out. Geneve lost hers just as she was bringing it onto the rocks.
Last night we stayed at Arcade and tonight we are staying at Vila Nova de Cerveira. It's right next to the Rio Mino river and has a lovely play area for us kids and Wifi!
So, we are having a fabulous time (in between the small family quarrels :p - but come on, that's understandable).
Tchau!
