Thursday, 24 November 2016: Because of our li'l bro (forgetting to turn back his watch and setting his alarm for 7am) we're up at 6am. At 7:30am we leave Merzy behind at our stop-over, 25 metres away from the retaining banks of the massive Rio Tejo, over looking the impressive Ponte 25 De Abril and Cristo Rei, and set off on foot in search of the S.A. Embassy located in the city centre. We walk along the river bank and then upwards from the Praca do Comercio, passing the Teatro D. Maria and Praca Marques de Pombal. After a 2 and half hour walk our hearts leap with joy when we see the S.A. flag lapping(?) in the wind (what wind?) Afterwards we use the opportunity to explore some more of what we haven't staggered on along our way uphill to the embassy. We go and look at the Se De Lisboa Catedral and Castelo de Sao Jorge.

McDonald serves as a most welcome stop and rest for our tired feet, to relieve ourselves, catch some free WiFi and a strong espresso to strengthen the oldies. Then we work our way downhill towards the river bank and back 'home'.

At 3pm we reach sweet ol' Merzy and put our feet up for a well earned rest. The Lord answered many prayers today. All honour and glory to Him!

Friday, 25 November 2016: We decide to do one last walk before leaving Lisbon and head the opposite way from yesterday along the river bank. We manage to fit in a few more attractions. The Torre de Belem, Padrao dos Descobrimentos and especially Mosteiro dos Jeronimos (monastery) is well worth the walk. Afterwards we leave our lovely spot with amazing views across the river, and head across the Ponte 25 De Abril (bridge over the Rio Tejo) and past the Cristo Rei to take the road down south.

After Setubal we pass through mile upon mile of cork tree plantation. Beautiful!!

We arrive at Barragem Pego do Altar, an Aire next to a lake/dam, 13 km north-east of Alcacer do Sal, to stop for the night.
