3 April 2017, Monday: The morning at Bray-sur-Seine calls for an egg breakfast and a lie in while our lovely daddy does our laundry at the local laverie. We leave after 12 and along the road come across a baree (blocked road). Not wanting to turn back we take a road less travelled through a farmer’s land. Upon exiting the farm road, we have to climb out and move the barrier as we are still within the blocked off area. We have our lunch break at St. Julien-du-Sault (the camper-stop Emile planned for us in the UK) before stopping for the day at Auxerre. This being Genève’s point of interest, boasts with no less than 3 ancient majestic churches (Eglise Saint Etienne, Church of Saint Pierre and Abbey of Saint-Germain d’Auxerre). We explore the town with its beautiful and extraordinary buildings before retiring at our stop for the night. 4 April 2017, Tuesday: We get up and Genève and I are sent to the closest supermarket to get provisions for the day. After a short drive, we stop for an early lunch at Venarey-les-Laumes. Due to the short journey, we continue to a little village called Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, one of the truly beautiful gems boasting with character and lots of French charm. We explore the tiny village and then continue with our journey to Marigny-le-Cahouet, just south of Chassy, where we park along a canal on the outskirts of town. Emile, Dad and Geneve do some fishing while I struggle to finally update the blog. 5 April 2017, Wednesday: We stop for lunch at the little quay on the river in Seurre. As we need to dump and fill up with water, we continue to Pierre-de-Bresse. We move a little bit further to a quiet place at the end of a farm road, away from civilization and next to a pretty lake. 6 April 2017, Thursday: After a very peaceful night, Dad spoils Mum with breakfast in bed (fried eggs on biscotti toasties). We do a thorough stock-up before our entry into Switzerland tomorrow. En route to our destination, we stop at a little picnic table beside the road for lunch. Due to another road block just after Champagnole we travel through a mountainous area with gorgeous views and surroundings. We get a special surprise when we notice some (old) snow along the road. We stop at a lake that is still partly frozen over. Genève and Emile test the strength of the ice by walking on it and throwing stones at it. Fortunately they climb back into the camper dry. Emile had chosen a lovely spot at Mijoux and we sit outside enjoying the last bit of sun for the day. 7 April 2017, Friday: Again we have another awesome night. We are truly blessed with the past few sleeping stops and good night sleeps that we’ve had. Today’s the day we enter Switzerland! After another quick stop and finally finding a petrol station that uses cash (because the fuel in Switzerland is expensive!!), we head for the border. We find a calm stop for lunch next to Lake Geneva (or Lake Le Leman). We continue a bit further and find a peaceful stop on the other side of the lake. We walk around for a bit and sadly come upon a no camper sign, so have to move on. We arrive at Echallens at 7pm and settle for the night.
