11 April 2017, Tuesday: The lightning of last night brought some rain. We wake up to the pitter patter of rain drops falling on Merzy’s roof. As we go around a bend, Dad’s rollmops (the German delicatessen Papa treated himself to) jump out of the fridge and he slams on the brakes for us to recapture his fish. We follow the tourist route around Tegernsee. Our stop for the day is at Schliersee above the lake. 12 April 2017, Wednesday: Okay… maybe sleeping next to a railway track is not such a great idea. Now we have grumpy parents breathing down our necks. But we see this as an opportunity to test and improve our patience. We stay on the route through the mountains and stop for lunch next to the lake Weitsee. At 3 o’clock we cross the border into Austria. Then we continue to Schloss Hellbrunn in Salzburg, Austria, where we explore the grounds consisting of gardens, ponds and buildings. This is where they filmed one of our favourite movies, The Sound of Music. As it is not too late we also decide to visit the Gollinger Wasserfall near Golling. Earlier on we wanted to sleep here, but as the parking seems inappropriate, we travel another 20km to a parking in Bischofshofen. 13 April 2017, Thursday: Although this park4night stop is situated in the town Bischofshofen, it is right next to a friedhof (graveyard)… and we sleep just as peaceful as the people resting there. We change our minds and decide to extend our stay in Austria for 1 or 2 more days and set off. Before leaving Bischofshofen, we fill up with diesel as it is very cheap and take the route back up again towards Gosau. Then we follow the contour of Hallstätter See and over Koppen Pass towards Bad Aussee. As we need to fill up with water and dump, we stop in Liezen at lunch time, but discover that there are no services. So we wrap up lunch and continue to Judenburg where we dump, but can’t fill up as there is no water in the taps. We send up a prayer request and trust the Lord that He will provide. We carry on to a park4night stop just south of Sankt Andra. It’s a tranquil place situated between a small lake and river, with beautiful views and our need for water is met by a tap 50 metres away. There is power in prayer! And our Lord is faithful.
