8 July 2017, Saturday: We’ve had such a lovely time that it’s hard to say goodbye. After staying in one place for a while, it is difficult to get back into the travelling routine. After Mum and Dad return from their overnight stay in the guest house down the road, we enjoy our last healthy breakfast with the family. We say our farewells and are sent on our way with a parcel made up of some of Schuster farm’s homemade produce. We make our way to Sibiu. It’s Saturday and very busy so we eventually give up trying to find parking for Merzy to have a look around town. Soon after we stop for lunch and then continue to Blaj. The park4night stop is at a busy intersection and we decide to move on. In Aiud we stop to have a look at the Cetatea Aiudului. We then head for a stop just outside Livezile at a nature reserve, Rezervaţia Naturală Cheile Valişoarei, underneath an impressive rock face with a view of the Castel Templul Cavalerilor just up a muddy track. After a quick and easy couscous and frankfurter dinner, we hit the hay.

9 July 2017, Sunday: On Sundays we try to travel less, but today’s journey is exceptionally short. 15km up the road we hit a strong signal and pull over at a picnic spot next to a stream and spend the rest of the day updating the blog. Lunchtime Genève treats us to toasted sandwiches with all the lovely cheese received from all our newly-made WWOOF friends. The sun is busy setting when we finally finish another blog, so we decide to stay here for the night.

10 July 2017, Monday: With the blogging being a bone of contention, we decide it’s wise to get the preparation for the next blog out of the way. This causes us to leave at 11am. Along the way we stop at a hut which tickles Dad’s interest as it is totally constructed of wood beams without any nails being used, the roof covering consisting of hay. After a quick late lunch-stop in Albac we continue our journey into the mountain and turn off on a small dirt road just before the small village of Baita to stop for the day. Genève collects some wood washed down by the river and starts a fire for Dad to braai the sausage. We supplement the sausage with pizza and watermelon. Us children gradually disappear off to bed while Mum and Dad sit outside, hoping to see a bear prowling around at night. They go to bed disappointed. I guess I should have mentioned that bears don’t come close to campfires.

11 July 2017, Tuesday: As we try to fine-tune the next blog, Genève grabs the scissors and Dad gets another hair-job done. At the same time Emile grabs the chess set and challenges Dad to a game of chess. (We won’t say who walks out victorious). We leave at 12pm. It is a very hot day and we desperately look for a shady spot to have lunch. We eventually stop in Râpa to cut the watermelon. In the next town, Tinca, we spot a water-point where several people are busy filling their bottles from several outlets at the same time. Being water experts, we presume due to popularity, this must be excellent water. We fill up all our cans as well as Merzy’s reservoir. While waiting for Dad and Emile to fill up, we see how the people drink the water and smack their lips in delight. As the last bottle is filled, Dad decides to soak his head in the water only to discover that, after tasting it, it’s equivalent to soda (carbonated) water. One by one the votes pile in that we need to turf the popular water and search for a new supply. In Solenta we spend our last Romanian Lei filling up on diesel and at Lidl. Us kids are treated to 10 Lei each. Since we hardly get given money to spend, it is a tough task to make up our minds. Dad almost blows his top as the selecting process goes way beyond even Mum’s extensive shopping time. We cool him down just in time with a litl’ ice-cream. 11km later we reach the border. It takes us 15 minutes to complete the formalities and at 4.45pm we enter Hungary. Our smart phone informs us that time has moved one hour back. We stop in Doboz at the Dobozi Kastelypark near a Catholic Church, Szent Kereszt felmagasztalasa templon, just after 4pm to retire for the day.
